About Me
Dr. Shelee-Ann M. Flemmings-Bowden, more commonly known as Dr. Shelee, is a Licensed Psychologist, Mental Health and Wellness Speaker, and Transformative Wellness Coach. Recognizing mental and emotional wellness as pivotal for our overall functioning and quality of life, Dr. Shelee has spent over a decade studying human brain and behavior and honing her expertise in the areas of intergenerational trauma and healing, as well as identity and relational repair. She earned her master’s and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Michigan State University.
Born and raised in Detroit, Dr. Shelee aims to increase mental health awareness, facilitate access to wellness resources, and reduce mental health stigma within historically excluded communities. Using self-exploration and self-discovery, she teaches individuals how to engage in inner work in order to cultivate meaningful change and break unwanted cycles rooted in survival and conditioning.
In 2020, Dr. Shelee founded The Mental Connect, a mental health network that works to normalize, destigmatize, and increase collective awareness regarding mental wellness through connection to self and community. Ultimately, she seeks to impact change across generations by fostering a collective shift in the culture and conversation of mental health and wellness. Dr. Shelee is a wife, mother, and proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
